“The fashion fauna is interesting, full of weird people who are involved in fashion to the edge of insanity and build their whole life around it,” believes famed textile designer Fabio Bellotti, founder of Rainbow. Bellotti has certainly built his life around finding the inspiration for the fabrics he designs, and supplied to such houses as Valentino, Krizia, and Ungaro, and Calvin Klein. His avant-garde, bold prints were sought after by most designers of the period.
Known as Fabio the Fabulous, the autodidactic Bellotti is based in Milan and Como, though he considers New York the source of inspiration that fuels his designs. Bellotti also co-produced, with dealer Giorgio Marconi, scarves and blankets designed by Italian artists such as Pomodoro.
